A mishap on Neversink Rd., Exeter Township left one yard in ruins Tuesday, Dec. 3.

A township truck pulling a leaf collection machine came around the bend and rolled into the yard of Andrew Stanley, 510 Neversink Road.

‘[The leaf collection machine] rolled over and took our four mailboxes, fences and the shrubbery,’ Stanley said. ‘It was six feet from going in my house.’

Stanley said there are parts of the street in his yard, and he ‘can’t even mow the grass.’

‘[They] came out of a hard turn and started to slide,’ Clarence D. Hamm, Highway Superintendent told The Southern Berks News. ‘It’s a hard turn, but it also leans.’

‘It’s an old road,’ Hamm said, adding that the turn ‘banks the wrong way.’

Hamm confirmed the township will clean up the yard and pay for any damages. An estimate of the damages was unavailable.

Temporary mailboxes were put up by the township the next day.

No one was injured in the accident.
