Reading Area Community College will welcome more than 150 students from Berks County colleges for Reflective Visions, the 15th Annual Conference for Undergraduate Research and Creative Expression on Saturday, April 26. The event, which begins at 8:30 a.m., is sponsored by the Higher Education Council of Berks County.

The conference invites students from the area’s colleges to share research or creative work from the current academic year. Research topics will come from the fields of social sciences, business, natural sciences and health, or humanities. Creative presentations could include artwork, creative writing, performance, video or technical designs. Whether research-based or creative, each presentation must have a faculty sponsor.

Students can present their work in a variety of formats. Research papers can be presented individually as a mini lecture in a classroom setting, or as a cooperative panel presentation. Additional categories include performances, poster displays and visual displays for art and similar work.

In addition to student presentations, the event will feature Ruha Benjamin as the keynote speaker. Benjamin, a professor of Sociology and African American studies at Boston University, examines the relationship between science, technology, medicine, and society. She is the author of People’s Science: Bodies and Rights on the Stem Cell Frontiers. Her work focuses on the relationships between innovation and equity, science and citizenship, and health and justice.
