For those who love the rush of adrenaline, unpredictable outcomes and extreme sporting, the 8th annual eXeter Games is where you want to be Saturday, Sept. 13.

The event invites riders of BMX bikes, skateboards, and scooters to come out to Pineland Skate Park to show the judges what skills and tricks they have up their sleeve.

Each registered individual will compete in either the beginner, intermediate or advance category with two one minute runs on the skate park. Their performance is based on a variety of factors which include style, originality, technical progress, consistency, use of course and power. First, second and third prizes will be awarded, as well as a winner for the best trick.

‘Anyone that enjoys the X Games competition should come out,’ Joe Seltzer, Parks and Recreation and event organizer, told Berks-Mont Newspapers. Last year the eXeter Games brought out 45 people to compete. It was also the first year scooters were added to the line-up. There is no age limit for participants to sign up.

Register before Sept. 7 and the entry fee is only half of what you would pay competition day.

Exeter Township received a grant from DCNR ‘about nine years ago to build the skate park with the competition in mind.’

In accordance with their plan, the township has projections over the next five-years to continue to grow the park and add new equipment for boarders, bikers and scooters. A mini half-pipe was added to the park a couple years ago to become even more appealing.

‘Kids come from all over go to different skate parks, Seltzer said. The skate park at Pineland is open dawn to dusk daily, weather depending. Raindate for the eXeter Games is Sunday, Sept. 14.

‘It’s a lot of fun,’ Seltzer said.
