With efforts for a “green classroom,” student volunteers at Daniel Boone High School constructed six picnic tables, two of which are handicap accessible, on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

These picnic tables are dedicated to Ms. Kemp, a former Daniel Boone teacher. The students manufactured all of the tables from start to finish under the watchful eyes of Mr. Hardwood and Mr. Helzer. These tables will be used in the near future for outside lunches for 11th and 12th grade students.

The tables were used at Safe Trick Or Treat Night at the high school on the Oct. 30. The evening was packed with 1,500 parents and children. Safe Trick Or Treat Night allows children in the community to trick or treat safely without fear of what’s in the candy they get, This event was sponsored by the teachers union.

Along the Trick or Treat route, children and parents were able to view the new green house and courtyard. For some they were able to get their first look at the hydroponics system in the green house. The members of the Daniel Boone Green Team were able to educate members of the community, explaining the systems they have developed so far.

The Green Team was able to show the community how easy it is to grow their own fresh foods at home, or anywhere.
