At the beginning of the 2014-2015 academic year, Boyertown High School telecommunications teacher Bill Cherkasky and a group of students from his class began a video project about the Boyertown Area Senior High School’s Old Building.

Produced jointly by Cherkasky and BASH senior Zane Rutter, the video is a documentary capturing the current architecture of the Old Building and its history. Members of the Boyertown community who have spent time in the Old Building have been interviewed including teachers, alumni, staff and administrators.

The goal of the project is to capture the essence of the building before it is renovated during the senior high construction project.

The Old Building in its present state has already been documented. However, much of its past remains a mystery. Only a few photographs from the time before the 1934 renovations have been uncovered, and very little knowledge of those days has been recorded on camera.

If anyone has any pictures, texts or other memorabilia of Boyertown High School between 1919 and 1935 and wishes to contribute to the project, please contact Bill Cherkasky at 610-473-3688 or <bcherkasky@boyertownasd.org>.
