The weekend of September 11th was especially busy for the American Legion Morgantown. While we all remembered where we were and what we where doing that mournful morning, hoping no one will ever forget, the Ladies of the Auxiliary worked at JoAnna Furnace during the Hay Creek Festival, selling baked goods for three days while other members worked at the Clam Bake & Chicken BBQ which was held at the Legion on Saturday, Sept. 12.
We had a wonderful weekend. There was good food and two bands played for our entertainment.
Because of our hard work and group effort we were able to donate $47,000 to our surrounding communities last year.
“I am so very honored to be part of this great organization and I thank all of our members from the bottom of my heart,” said Post Commander Roger Jacobs.
“This was an incredibly fun and exhausting weekend but all for the good! Our Legion Post 537 put on an amazing BBQ event despite the rain and the Auxiliary sold baked goods at Hay Creek all weekend. It was amazing to see how everyone came together and pulled it all off! I hope this kind of teamwork continues and I’m so proud to say I’m part of this great group. Let’s keep the momentum going my friends. The sky is the limit,” said Melissa Tillman Seifert.
