The 2015 car show season is drawing to an end but fantastic weather coupled with dedicated promotion resulted in a record turnout for the 11th Annual Country Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show at the Salem-Berne UMC Church in Hamburg on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Despite competition from other cruises and shows in the area, more than 100 vehicles turned out for the event, a new record. The judged classes for the show included Truck, Street Rod, Motorcycle, 1948 and Older, 1949-1959, 1960-1979, 1980-1999 and 2000 & Newer and trophies were awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each class. In addition to the aforementioned, there were also trophies for Best In Show, People’s Choice and Cruiser’s Choice.

“Perfect weather for a car show led to a record turnout of 104 vehicles at the 11th Annual Country Car, Truck and Motorcycle show at Salem-Berne United Methodist Church on Saturday, Sept. 26,” said event coordinator Sue Carvin of Salem-Berne UMC. “Great music was provided by DJ Defined Sound Entertainment. Other than the great vehicles, some highlights of the day for the kids included face painting, crafts, and checking out some interesting animals in the petting zoo. The chicken BBQ was a hit with the crowd along with all of the delicious soups, sandwiches, and desserts prepared by the church members. We collected several heavy boxes of donations for the Food Pantry. Next year’s show will be the last Saturday in September.”

Besides the 100+ vehicles on display there were also door prizes, kid’s activities, Miller-Keystone Blood Drive and a non-perishable food drive for the Greater Berks Food Bank. And of course, great food, soup and baked goods to be had.
