The Kutztown/Brandywine Youth Football and Cheer Association will be holding a Memorial Sky Lantern Release on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 6 to 9 at the Kutztown Park youth football field to benefit the families of the late Michael Bailey and the late Heather Delp who were coaches in the Kutztown /Brandywine youth football and cheer program.
Mike, who died July 28, was a wonderful husband and father to his wife and three children. He loved to race and coach. Heather, who died Aug. 14, was an amazing single parent of six beautiful children. She gave her children all the love and support they needed. Both Mike and Heather are missed greatly by all of those who know them. We decided to honor everything they did for the youth program, by trying to give back to their families. They were part of our family and we are all better for knowing them.
All proceeds from this event will be sent to the families memorial fund.
Individual lanterns will be sold for a minimum donation of $5. They will be available during football practice at the Kutztown Park Monday through Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m. Also several local businesses will be selling them: Shear Indulgence, Mr. Food, Image Hair, and Mama’s Pizza. Tickets will be turned in at the event to receive the lantern. Ticket sales will end on Oct. 5.
There will also be a Chinese auction, music and food available for purchase. The proceeds from these sales will also go to the fund.
This will be a controlled release. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult for the lighting and release. All safety precautions are being taken into consideration before, during and after the event. The Kutztown Fire and ambulance personnel have dedicated their time to help us make our event a success.

Release a sky lantern to remember a loved one on this enchanting night. A memorial label will be attached to the lantern as it is lighted by event personnel and released by you.
