Dear Editor:On behalf of the staff, volunteers and clients of Family Services’ Meals on Wheels program, I would like to thank the greater Pottstown community for their support of the Annual Meals on Wheels Fundraising Event featuring The Fabulous Greaseband on Saturday, Oct. 3. We welcomed nearly 370 energetic music fans to Sunnybrook Ballroom that night, including a retirement celebration. What a fun and creative way to celebrate a milestone!
At the end of the night, we raised approximately $18,500 (net) for the program. These funds will help offset the cost of delivering meals to seniors in Western Montgomery County. In 2014, we delivered more than 80,000 meals to approximately 385 area seniors who are primarily home bound and at risk for malnutrition.
I would like to thank our generous event sponsors, Exelon/Limerick Generating Station, Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, BTC Foods, and Wendy’s Royersford, as well as the 35 businesses that advertised in our event program.
Plans are underway for a repeat performance with The Fabulous Greaseband in early October 2016. I hope you can join us!
