Windsor Township home fire ruled accidental, caused by electrical malfunction

Police investigated a fire at a Windsor Township home on Feb. 16 that has been ruled accidental and originated from an electrical malfunction.

No one was home at the time of the fire. Two cats were rescued from the house and one cat remains unaccounted for.

State Police Reading report that at 12:26 p.m. on Feb. 16, fire crews responded to an unoccupied residence and observed fire venting from windows on the ground floor. They forced entry into the home and were able to contain the damage to mostly one room.

Crews were able to suppress the fire before it spread throughout the house. Damage is estimated at about $25,000.

The investigation showed that the fire originated in a first floor room and was caused by an electrical malfunction. The fire was ruled accidental.
