This weekend Daniel Boone Area High School will present Disney’s “High School Musical.”
While there are about 70 students participating in cast and stage crew, the entire school has taken part to bring this production to fruition.
According to Musical Director Ryan Hoffmann, this is the first year “High School Musical” has been chosen as the school’s spring production, and they chose it for the “We’re All in This Together” message.
“We, as an activity and as a school community, believe that we all accomplish more when we are able to help one another achieve,” said Hoffmann. “We have tried as hard as we could to incorporate every facet of our school in this show and make it co-curricular, rather than just extracurricular.”
He explained how the technology department and drafting classes created the sets, the art department helped to paint the sets and props, and the music teachers are directing the pit orchestra and vocalists.
Several teachers are helping out individually as well. A chemistry teacher helped to choreograph the show, a biology teacher is assistant directing, and a history teacher is running the stage crew.
In addition, several students from the BCTC Cosmetology program are doing the make-up.
Hoffmann, an English teacher at the high school, has served as a co-director for the past three years.
Performance dates are Friday and Saturday, April 15 and April 16, at 7:00 pm; Sunday, April 17, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 per adult and $8 per student. Tickets can be purchased via a new online ticketing system at <http://dboone.seatyourself.biz>.
The high school is located at 501 Chestnut St., Birdsboro.
