On Sunday, Oct. 2, Pastor Edward Kurtz and his wife, Helen, were honored for more than 40 years of service to the Living Waters Fellowship Church. More than 50 members from past to present met at The Torch Community Center for a surprise celebration reunion to show their appreciation. A time of prayer and testimony was followed by cake and refreshments.

Pastor Edward and Helen have spent the last 40 years shepherding the members of Living Waters Fellowship through individual counseling, pastoring and teaching ministries. Their open-door policy has provided the non-traditional churchgoer a place to worship and find counsel without financial obligation. Members often refer to Pastor Ed and Helen as their “Spiritual Dad and Mom.”

Living Waters Fellowship began over 40 years ago and first met in a picnic-style pavilion on the Welsh Mountains and then moved to the Kurtz’s living room in their Geigertown home. In 1981, the Kurtz’s moved to Morgantown, to the former Johanna Heights Methodist Campground and built a fellowship hall onto their home. More recently the church had been meeting at The Torch Community Center located in the Clock Tower Plaza in Morgantown.
