The annual Fall Morgantown Village Library and Book Sale was held October 13-15.

Board President Mary Ellen Mahan and Vice President Lisa Betz were busy handing out the $5 and $7 bags at the Saturday Bag Sale while helping people find books in all genres which were divided into sections of Fiction, History, Romance, Children etc.

Kade Elliott, a 14-year-old 9th grader from Twin Valley School, volunteers every Saturday. He was helping patrons pack and carry overflowing bags to their vehicles.

Carl A. Brown, a frequent visitor to the library’s Honor Room where books and magazines are for sale every week, came to check out the sale and ended up selling brownies at the bake sale table. Mr. Brown selling brownies added levity to the morning.

Spirits were high on this beautiful fall day and book lovers were eager to go on the record.

“I have two daughters and come as often as I can. If they don’t have it they will get it for you (referring to the online ordering throughout the Berks County Library System). We also enjoyed their ‘Paint by Tape’ event,” said Marcia Parsons of Blue Ball.

“I find it helpful to buy these books so I can establish my home library,” said Howard Moss Sr. of Morgantown.

“I love the sale. It is local and I buy for my nieces and nephews. ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’, ‘Pokemon’, books, movies they have it all. The people are all so friendly,” said Sandra Hart of Mohnton.

” I have two daughters and they both read at least 20 minutes a day. I like that we can order through the library computer and they get things through the county and let us know when we can pick it up and email us when the book is due back,” said Katie Fleck of Mohnton.

“They have good books both fiction and non-fiction. I like learning about important things back in history. They have lots of those books,” said Elizabeth Fleck of Mohnton.

“I plan to fill more than one bag. It is a wonderful cause. You never want to be without a book. I come to the library often. I can order through the computer and they are never overdue because they send you an email,” said Anita Lovejoy of Morgantown.

“I am filling up 2 big bags. It is a great deal, I have been reading books ever since I could read. Romance, mystery, and others. I am picking up cookbooks for my grandkids they like to cook. I love the book sale,” said Cathy Diem of Honey Brook.

“I am a big reader. It is nice to have a choice even though this is a small village library they have access to all the local libraries. This is a worthy cause,” said Eric Diamond of Elverson.

The gift of the new computers from Mary Ellen Mahan’s wedding donations and the Rotary Club of Twin Valley were very much needed to keep up with the new technology. Kade Elliott took me on a virtual computer tour on a new computer.
