Nov. 23Thanksgiving Day Service: We invite the community to join us as we gather together to ask the Lord’s Blessing at our Thanksgiving service at 10 a.m. Offering will be donated to Berks Ministerium. St. Paul’s “Smoke” Church, Hamburg.

Nov. 24Shoemakersville Fire Company Christmas tree sale: 300 Church Avenue Shoemakersville. Starts on Black Friday. Held Fridays and Mondays 5 to 8 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Nov. 25 Benefit Dance & Hoedown for the Kunkel Family: sponsored by Virginville Grange, 456 Main Street (Route 143), Virginville. Ethan Kunkel, Albany Township, is receiving treatment for Leukemia. Nov. 29Basket Weaving Class Christmas Hearth Basket: The Hamburg Strand Party Room, 8 South 4th St., Hamburg, 6 to 9 p.m. Made with start and stop weaving, with stepbacks to give the sides a slanted shape. Dec. 3 Leesport Area Historical Society Museum Christmas Open House: 1 to 4 p.m. at 128 Main St., Leesport. Santa will visit from 1 to 3 p.m. and children’s author, Dori Hoch will read to the children.

Dec. 9Cookie sale: Evangelical Lutheran Friedens Church, Main and Washington streets, Bernville, will be holding a cookie sale on Dec. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon. A variety of home-made cookies will be available. Pre-orders accepted at 610-488-6752 or 610-488-6260.
