Nov. 16Schwank hosts Home Water Workshop: Sen. Judy Schwank hosting workshop for residents who get their drinking water from a private well, spring or cistern. Held at Penn State Berks, 1800 Broadcasting Road, 6:30 p.m. in Franco Building, Room 109. Presented by Penn State Extension, the Delaware River Basin Commission and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, program will cover proper well construction and maintenance. Bring sample of your drinking water for basic water testing for nitrates, total dissolved solids and pH. Educators available to advise if results suggest further analysis needed. Empty a fresh, store-purchased plastic bottled-water container and refill it with water from the tap.

Nov. 19Dale Reppert presentation: Reppert will present an inspiring story of his near death experience and vision of heaven on Nov. 19 at 9:15 am, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 117 E. Arch Street, Fleetwood. Detour to Heaven is the story of his journey; the result of brain surgery and subsequent complications. His story is one of an experience that changed his life forever and showed him how faith, family and optimism can overcome life’s challenges. Dec. 3Kutztown Senior Citizen’s Dinner: Hosted by the Optimist Club of Kutztown, in cooperation with the Kutztown Grange, at Kutztown Grange Hall at 5 p.m., with doors opening at 4 p.m. There will be entertainment and awards after dinner. All Senior Citizens, age 75 and older residing within the Borough of Kutztown, are invited to attend free of charge. Those who attended last year’s dinner should receive a call from the Optimist Club by Nov. 20. Kutztown residents who have reached 75 and never attended and wish to attend should contact Andy Schlegel at 610-683-3743 before Nov. 21. Senior Citizens may bring a guest who is not age 75 or does not live in the Borough, however guest will be asked to pay $12 for meal. Optimist Club will provide transportation to and from the dinner upon request.
