Village Library in Morgantown is getting ready to celebrate the holidays.

The Village Library, 207 N Walnut St. in Morgantown is getting ready to celebrate the holidays.

Board members and volunteers are preparing for their annual Community Christmas Festival held on the traditional first Monday in December. This year the festival will be held on Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m., rain date is Dec. 5. The lighting of the Christmas Tree will be at the library’s own outdoor evergreen decorated for the season outside the library, patrons will not be walking to the township building like in the past.

“This is a family event, all ages are welcome. Please dress according to the weather,” said Library Director Natasha Donaldson.

In addition to caroling around the tree singing “Oh, Christmas Tree,” “Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer” and other holiday favorites, the children will have the opportunity to meet Santa seated on his big chair.

“They can whisper their wishes while friends and family snap that annual Christmas Santa photo,” said Donaldson.

In the past the crowd has ranged from 50-300 people. Christmas cookies, snacks and hot chocolate will be served. If the public wishes to donate cookies they may drop them off the day before at the library. Call 610-286-1022 for information.

Families and children can also join in the fun at a Storytime with Santa Dec. 20 from 10 to 11 a.m. Santa will be telling the story “Oh, Christmas Tree.”

“There will crafts, games, and singing for everyone, come out and join the fun!” said Donaldson.

On Dec. 30, from 10 a.m. to noon, the library hosts the 2018 Noon Year Party. The Noon Year Party is great fun with a group countdown to ring out the old year and bring in the New Year for children from kindergarten to 6th grade. The event includes games, crafts, and snacks.

“And join in the annual celebration of ringing in the New Year at the library with neighbors and friends! Shout, Ten- Nine- Eight-Seven -Six-Five-Four…. as our own ball drops down from the ceiling,” said Donaldson.

For the Noon Year Party please sign up at the front desk or call 610-286-2022 by Dec. 21.

The Library Board would like to thank all of the volunteers who help to bring these events to the community. They work raising funds and planning events throughout the year. They are always looking for volunteers and people who are interested to serve on the Board.

Director Natasha Donaldson and the library staff and Board wish you the happiest of holidays and would like to meet you at the library.

There is no admission charge for these events.
