Trinity Church

Military Heritage Day will be held at Trinity Church of Boyertown, May 19, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. rain or shine. Hear local veterans share about their service in war and in peace. See reenactment groups, displays of uniforms, supplies, weapons and militaria, military vehicles, and more. Speakers (beginning at 10 a.m.) include Cliff Cleaver – Army Vietnam veteran, Dan Mack – Major, USMC, Retired; Marine One pilot, Mike Montanye – Army medic, Brian Miller – Navy submariner. Representatives from area assistance organizations will be present to meet with veterans and discuss programs and services available to them.

Christ Lutheran Church

Worship with us on the Day of Pentecost/Rite of Confirmation on May 20 at our worship services at 7:45 and 10:15 a.m. Pastor Matt Ollikainen will lead the congregation in Holy Communion worship services, present the sermon, as well as the Children’s Sermon at the 7:45 a.m. service. During the 10:15 a.m. service, the second year Confirmation students: Braden Bartman, Alec Barton, Julia Menear, and Evan Shade, will be confirmed and become voting members of the congregation. The first year Confirmation students will read scripture and present the Children’s Sermon during the 10:15 a.m. service. The Edu-Worship service is 9 a.m. in the parlor. An Adult Sunday School class is 9 a.m. in room H, downstairs in the church. Those ministering at the 7:45 a.m. service are Acolyte; OPEN, Lector; Terry Flicker, Communion Assist; Stephen Hoffman and Greeters/Ushers; Norman Hoffman and Roy Hoffman. Those ministering at the 10:15 a.m. service are Acolyte; Jonathan Lewis, Lector; First year Confirmation students, Communion Assist; Heather Moser and Greeters/Ushers; Bob and Lisa Heydt. Immediately following the 10:15 a.m. service, all are invited to the parlor for a Coffee Hour hosted by the Hospitality Committee.

The “Journeys through Grief”, led by Sylvia Havlish grief counselor, session will be held on May 22 at 7 p.m. in the parlor of the church. Church Council will also meet on May 22 at 7 p.m. in room H. The Senior Choir’s last rehearsal, until the fall, will be May 23 at 7:30 p.m. The Junior/Cadette Girl Scout troops will meet on May 24 at 6:30 p.m.

St. Luke Church

35 Wilson Ave., Gilbertsville

Join us for the 8:30 Sunday morning Bible Study at 8:30. Then, join us at 9:30, a.m. for worship. This is the Day of Pentecost. This is the 15th day of Easter, when we celebrate the Spirit, through whom and in whom the people of God are created and re-created. The Senior Choir will sing, “Cinem Spirit, Come,” by Beall. Also we’ll witness the Affirmation of Baptism of Travis Jacob. We’ll welcome Travis as a confirmed member of St. Luke Church!

Please consider red on Sunday, as we’ll also see our sanctuary wearing “red” with the red paraments, and geraniums sponsored by numerous members. A coffee hour will follow the service.

St. Luke Youth will be selling their wonderful nonpareil following Sunday’s service! Proceeds will go to funding their attendance at the ELCA Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas. Some proceeds will also benefit the Boyertown Area Multi-Service.

Cherub Choir will rehearse at 11 on Sunday. The Women’s Bible Study will meet at Pam Ferraro’s house at 12:30.

J.A.M. (Jesus and Me) class will meet Sunday, with the focus of their lesson being The Holy Spirit. Also, St. Luke’s softball season has begun, there will be an away game Sunday night as St. Luke will play Spring Valley Community Church at 5:30 p.m. Go, St. Luke!!!

The Mutual Ministry Team will meet Monday night at 7:15.

The Community Clothing Rack will be open for clothing distribution on Wednesday, 1-4 p.m.

Handbell Choir will rehearse at 6:30, followed by Sr. Choir at 7:30. Also, there will be a catechism party at 7 p.m.

Shepherd of the Hills Church

The Rite of Confirmation will be observed on Sunday, May 20. Those being confirmed include Courtney Bratten, Kristin Gross, Jahkari Kowchowsky, Rachael Moser, and Casey Parke.

Boy Scouts meet Monday at 7 p.m. Cub Scouts meet Thursday at 7 p.m. AA groups meet at the church on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m., Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m. Al Anon meets in the church on Tuesdays at 8 p.m.

Trinity Lutheran Church

1749 S. Main Street, Bechtelsville

Sunday Worship Services are 10:15 a.m., Sunday School 9 a.m., Contemporary Worship Service 8 a.m., the 1st and 3rd Sundays.

A Grief Support Group will meet at Trinity on the third Tuesday, May to August, 7-8:30 p.m.. Kay McGowan will facilitate the group. Registration is not necessary. Anyone who has lost a loved one is welcome to attend.

Annual Pet Blessing will be May 20 at 2 p.m. Bring your dogs, cats, or other pets for a spring-time blessing. We will be receiving dog/cat food that will be donated to the Berks County SPCA. Friends and neighbors are welcome! Hopefully, weather permitting, we will be outside.

Our summer worship schedule begins June 3, with worship each Sunday at 9 a.m. There will be no 8 a.m. services or Sunday School during the months of June, July, and August. We will return to our regular schedule on Sept. 2.

We will be having a “Musical Celebration” on June 3 at 3 p.m. featuring our choirs and instrumentalists. Light refreshments following the performance.

Graduate Recognition Sunday is June 10. Call the Church Office and let us know of any members, friends, or loved ones who are graduating from high school, college, graduate school, basic training or any other academic or career training program.
