George W. Weigle, 89, of Allentown, died June 2, 2012 in the Laurel Center, Hamburg.
He was the widower of Jean E. (Leinweaver) Weigle.
Born in Greenwich Township, he was a son of the late William H. and Elsie E. (Merkel) Weigle.
Mr. Weigle was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Kutztown. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, receiving the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Weigle was employed by various car dealerships in the Lehigh Valley, last working at Gilboy Ford, Whitehall. He also worked for the former Siegfried Chauffeur Company, Allentown.
Survivors: Daughters, Helene L. (Weigle) wife of Willis W. Ruth, Lenhartsville, Pamela C. (Weigle) wife of Timothy S. Salgado, Allentown, Barbara B. (Weigle) Shannon, Spring Grove; son, Richard W. husband of Sharon L. (Moyer) Weigle, Kutztown. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, William E. Weigle, and a grandson.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 5, at 11 a.m. from Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 1343 Long Lane Road, Kutztown, with Reverend James R. Hammond officiating. Private inurnment with military honors provided by Ray A. Master Post #217, American Legion, Topton, in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church.
