The Kutztown FFA will host a Pig Roast benefiting Friend, Inc., Community Services in Kutztown.
The Kutztown High School offers a vet science class. Within the elective students learn about the anatomy and needs of animals. The school’s focus of large or small animals alternates each year. This year the students focused on the science of large animals. Throughout the year, students learned about an array of large animals including horses, sheep, and pigs. Within the past two months the agricultural students have been raising two pigs.
The agricultural and FFA students are going to host a pig roast at the conclusion of the school year on Friday, May 31. The students are also collecting canned goods and non-perishables of which will be donated to Friend, Inc. at the roast.
Food will start to be served at 1 p.m. and continue up until about 5 p.m. Tickets on sale now. However, for every three food items brought for Friend, Inc.$1 will be taken off of the ticket price up to $3. The menu consists of roast pork sandwich; choices of potato, macaroni, pasta, pepper cabbage salads; applesauce; baked beans; chips; pretzels; appetizers; and relish dishes. There will also be homemade desserts for sale. The proceeds of the roast will be donated to Friend, Inc.
