The Berks County Parks & Recreation Department is proud to team up with Cabela’s® for Let’s Go Camping! With Cabela’s on Saturday, June 29 from 1-4 p.m. at Kaercher Creek Park in Hamburg, rain date June 30. The event provides a comprehensive crash course in camping for families and individuals interested in trying an outdoor adventure for the first time, or for those interested in sharpening some of their existing skills. Admission is free and refreshments will be available.

Staff from Cabela’s Outfitters will demonstrate some camping basics, including setting up a tent, campfire cooking techniques and locating a great campsite. They’ll also showcase items to help make your camping or hiking adventure more enjoyable, like camping kitchens, cookware, lightweight sleeping bags, water filtration kits, maps and more!

“Cabela’s expert Outfitters will be on-hand teaching people how easy and affordable camping can be. They will also be showcasing the newest camping gear available at Cabela’s,” said Harold Luther, Events Coordinator at Cabela’s in Hamburg.

“Cabela’s and the Hamburg store believe it’s important to partner with local outdoor organizations in an effort to get more people involved in great family outdoor activities, such as camping and fishing,” Luther explained.

Find out about dangerous animals or plants to avoid, how to pack your pack for hiking, pick up tested recipes you and your kids will enjoy, what to have in your first aid kit, what to do if you are lost and Leave No Trace principles.
