Letter to the Editor: Thank you Hamburg

Dear Editor, Citizens of Pottsville, Hamburg and Frackville;

What a great city you have, full of caring people. We were on a trip to Myrtle Beach and on Highway 81, hit a deer at 5 a.m. What an ordeal, as we had a van full with six people, a 2-year old child, and all our luggage. Thankfully, no one was hurt. However, what to do, at 5 a.m., on a Sunday morning?

When we reported the incident to CPL Kevin OBrien with the State Police, he went right to work helping us solve our problem. We were able to drive off the highway and park by the famous Dutch Kitchen. The employees were wonderful, friendly and invited us to stay as long as necessary.

AAA sent an awesome tow truck driver, Kevin, from Patriots Collision Center in Hamburg. They helped us connect with Tina at Eds USA Auto Rental, who set us up with a great rental to fit our family size. The staff at Patriots Collision Center/Auto Body worked diligently to have our car repaired by Friday of that week. Roger Brill, the owner, was very professional and nice to work with.

Thanks to your fine businesses, a near tragedy turned out very well and we thank you all for your helpfulness and friendliness to strangers.

Paul and Beth Chamberlin, of Thomaston, Maine.
