Hamburg Are High School Homecoming week may not have gone perfectly to plan, but the crowd cheered loudly during the football game on Friday night as the 2013 Homecoming King and Queen were announced.

The court which consisted of Queen candidates: Victoria Bear, Tatum Mack, Stephanie Waldron, Karlie Heistand and April Stafford and the King candidates: Tyler Seidel, Kyle Nye, Chris Kummerer, Josh Kisha and Samuel Moseman took the field during halftime, arriving at the entrance to the football field in a limousine. They were introduced over the sound system as they walked the track toward the visiting team’s bleachers and then walked down the 50 yard line toward the hometown crowd.

Last year’s King and Queen were welcomed back and had the honor of presenting the crowns to this year’s winners. Victoria Bear was the 2013 Homecoming Queen and Tyler Seidel was the 2013 Homecoming King. The court then posed for pictures before the start of the second half of the football game.

Though the night was full of cheers and enthusiastic fans decked out in red and black, along with honorary game captain and 1987 Hamburg grad Steve Moser, the football team suffered its first defeat of the season losing to Fleetwood 52-7.

The weather led to the postponement of the powder puff football game between the juniors and seniors which was set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 21.

As with tradition, that week at Hamburg was spirit week along with the Wednesday night parade and bonfire. During the parade, students were escorted around town on fire trucks and then had the chance to enjoy a bonfire at the school.

During the last few periods of school there was a pep rally and a tailgate prior to the football game Friday night.

Saturday sporting events with Homecoming were field hockey, tennis, girls’ soccer and boys’ soccer.
