<![CDATA[TreeVitalize Grant awarded to Boyertown for 21 new trees; Planting event rescheduled to Nov. 8]]> The Borough of Boyertown in cooperation with Building A Better Boyertown was recently awarded a TreeVitalize grant to plant 21 trees in the Borough.

Working closely with the Borough, and Rick Hartlieb, state forester the tree committee submitted a grant request to plant a total of 21 trees during this fall season.

"I'm going to estimate almost 3,000 because last year I know we had 2,000," said Kutztown Optimist Club member Garret Miller, owner of Graphics on the Go.

<![CDATA[Schuylkill River Heritage Area Executive Director to retire June 2015]]> Schuylkill River Heritage Area Executive Director Kurt D. Zwikl has announced that he will retire, effective June 30, 2015.

Zwikl has led the Heritage Area since 2003. The board of directors for the Schuylkill River Greenway Association, which manages the Heritage Area has formed a search committee and hired Leadership Recruiters, an executive search firm specializing in non-profit searches.
