Approximately 30 church members were on hand to make the event a success, from filling of 9,000 eggs with wrapped candy, grilling hot dogs, face painting, balloon making, and handing out prizes.

<![CDATA[Local growers are state winners in National Corn Yield Contest]]> Three area corn growers have been honored as a state winner in the 2013 National Corn Yield Contest, sponsored annually by the National Corn Growers Association.

Ms Rhoda Mast of Morgantown, Pa., placed third in the state in the No-Till/Strip-Till Irrigated Class with a yield of 255.8393 bushels per acre.

<![CDATA[Herbivore]]> For many years I didn't realize the virtues of fresh herbs, and until a few years ago, I didn't know the joys of growing my own array of herbs. My endearing husband built a large planter out of old shelves, and I gleefully filled it with cilantro, Mexican oregano, chives and rosemary. The cilantro died within the week, the chives followed soon after, the rosemary shot up to an astounding two feet, and the oregano was, well…perfect.

The Boyertown Area Times recently hosted its annual sixth grade spelling bee competitions for both Oley and Boyertown school districts. Approximately twenty students from each school district participated in each event.

<![CDATA[Public comment eliminated during Boone meetings]]> Daniel Boone School Board President Richard Martino said at the April 14 Committee of the Whole meeting that agendas will no longer allow for public comment at the end of each discussion topic.

He said the public can speak on agenda items before and after the meeting, and on non-agenda items at the close of the meeting.

<![CDATA[American Legion Eagle Scout Project]]> Boy Scout Aaron Giniewski unveiled his Eagle Scout American Legion remodel project at the American Legion Post 626, Birdsboro, Saturday, April 12.

Giniewski, a sophomore at Exeter High School, is a member of Boy Scout Troop 333 out of St. Lawrence.

For his Eagle Scout project, Giniewski remodeled the bathroom and upstairs foyer at American Legion Post 626.
