Harold R. Flicker, of Topton, died May 6, 2012 in his residence after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was a hero.
He was the husband of Jayne (Schappell) Flicker.
Born in Longswamp Township, he was a son of the late Norman and Helen (Rohrbach) Flicker.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mertztown, where he served as treasurer for over 30 years and was a member of the bell choir.
He was a graduate of Kutztown High School.
For many years, he worked at the family business, N.H. Flicker and Sons, Inc., in Maxatawny. He was later employed by Fuel Injection, Sales and Service, Inc., where he retired in 2011.
Survivors: Wife, son, Matthew, husband of Jennie M. (Whitaker) Flicker, Nazareth; daughter, Kelly Flicker, Allentown; three grandchildren, Rachel Claire, Jack Marshall, and Elliot James Flicker, brothers, Kenneth husband of Gertrude Flicker, Maxatawny, Carl husband of Loretta Flicker, Kutztown, and Ronald, husband of Deborah Flicker, Fleetwood.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m. from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 50 Luther Drive, Mertztown. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mertztown, P.O. Box 117, Mertztown, PA 19539, to be used to support the bell choir or the Brandywine Community Library, 60 Tower Drive, Topton, PA 19562. The Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., Topton, is in charge of arrangements.
