Hanover’s Tim Wagaman ended a two-year Trail-Way win drought in claiming his first win of the year in the 25-lap “358” sprint car feature Friday night.
“It’s been about two years now, and this win is long overdue,” said Wagaman after the popular win, “I kinda’ got into Shane (Hoff) earlier in the race, and I hope that didn’t cause his (last turn) spin.” Austin Hogue came from eighth-starting spot to finish second, with ninth-starting Brad McClelland third, 12th-starting and hard charger Isaac Sneeringer fourth, and Mike Bittinger fifth.
Rounding out the top ten were Keith Prutzman, Kyle Moody, 14th-starting Zach Euculano, Ryan Wilson, and Rocky Magaro.
PORT ROYAL SPEEDWAY
Chad Layton held off Steve Buckwalter, Blane Heimbach and Danny Holtgraver to win his second 410 sprint feature of the Port Royal Speedway season on Saturday night. Steve Buckwalter was second, Blain Heimbach ended up third followed by Danny Holtgraver and Doug Esh Sixth through 10th went to Mike Wagner, Dave Ely, Lance Dewease, Frank Cozze and Mike Erdley. In the 25-lap Summer Championship for the late models, it was Brett Schadel taking the $2,000 payday, which was also his second win of the Port. Scott Haus, Hamburg was sixth and Andy Haus was 10th.
Brad McClelland won his second 410 feature ever at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday night. McClelland crossed the finish line 1.76 seconds in front of Robbie Kendall. Tim Glatfelter hung on for third, with Jim Siegel and Cory Haas completing the top five. Sixth through tenth were Brent Marks, Fred Rahmer, Chad Criswell, 20th-starting Ryan Bohlke, and Steve Owings.
Danny Snyder picked up the biggest prize of the season for the Late Model racers, $2,350, for winning the Jesse Baro Trucking Firecracker 40 Late Model race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. Duane Howard returned to victory lane in the NASCAR 358 Modifieds winning his eighth of the season and Joe Funk got his first career Grandview Sportsman feature victory.
For much of the Firecracker 40 it was a four car battle for the top spot with Danny Snyder getting the lead late in the first half and going on to victory. Second spot went to Sean Merkel followed by Ron Kline, Steve Nederostek (an early leader) and Chuck Schutz.
Coming from 16th starting spot Duane Howard was able to charge through the feature field and grab the top spot with 16 laps completed. Late in the 30-lapper for the Modifieds Doug Manmiller, who won the last feature at Grandview, charged up through the pack to grab second in the finish after gaining 24 positions. Third was earned by Mike Laise followed by Jeff Strunk and Kyle Follweiler.
The Sportsman main event, a 25 lapper, had Joe Funk taking the lead on the 16th circuit and going on to victory. John Kovatch IV was a close second followed by Kyle Borror, Brad Brightbill and Kenny Gilmore.
