Hamburg Borough Police

Aggravated assault and other charges

Dave Dunker, 41, from Joilett, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person. These charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred on July 1 at approximately 12:10 a.m. in the 800 block of S. Fourth Street in Hamburg.

Teen charged with DUI

Alexander Palko, 18, from Hamburg, was charged with driving under the influence, and failing to give information and render aid when involved in an accident involving damage to an unattended vehicle. This stems from an incident that allegedly occurred on July 18 at approximately 9:29 p.m. in the intersection of Island and N. Fourth streets in Hamburg.

DUI

Kevin a. Gantkowski, 27, form Hamburg, was charged with driving under the influence. This stems from an incident that allegedly occurred on Aug. 5 at approximately 11:47 p.m. on S. Fourth Street at Pine Street in Hamburg.

Burglary

Alyx Claire Mazaika, 18, from Hamburg, was arrested for burglary, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and criminal trespass. These charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred on Aug. 13 at approximately 8:15 a.m. in the 400 block of Northmont Avenue in Hamburg.

Burglary by juvenile

A 17-year-old male juvenile from the Sinking Spring area was referred to juvenile court for burglary, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and criminal trespass. These charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred on Aug. 13 at approximately 8:15 a.m. in the 400 block of Northmont Avenue in Hamburg.

Criminal mischief and disorderly conduct

A 17-year old male from Hamburg was referred to Juvenile Court for criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. These charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred on June 20 at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Park Road at the Hamburg Park.

Driver strikes parked vehicle

A traffic accident occurred on July 9 at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the first block of S. Third Street in Hamburg.

Christopher J. Gibson, 18, from the Reading area, was traveling north on S. Third Street when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a legally parked vehicle owned by Carline M. Blatt, from Hamburg. Gibson have his seat belt on. No injuries were reported. Gibson’s vehicle was towed from the scene.

Harassment

Shirley Schappell, 74, from Hamburg, was cited for harassment. This stems from an incident that allegedly occurred on Aug. 9 at approximately 10:34 a.m. in the 600 block of Franklin Street in Hamburg.

Burglary, other charges

Alyx Claire Mazaika, 18, from Hamburg, was arrested for burglary, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and criminal trespass. These charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred on Aug. 13 at approximately 8:15 a.m. in the 400 block of Northmont Avenue in Hamburg.

Outstanding warrants

On Aug. 13, Jennifer Chestnut, 39, from the Sinking Spring area, was arrested for having outstanding warrants. Chestnut had responded to the Hamburg Borough Police Department for an incident involving her son when it was discovered that there were outstanding warrants on her.

Identity theft

Patrick Anthony Strahan, 35, from the Shillington area, was charged with identity theft, access device fraud, theft by unlawful taking, and receiving stolen property. These charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred between May 29 and June 6 at 52 S. Fourth St. and 556 E. State St. in Hamburg.

Tilden Township Police

Man arrested for multiple thefts

Ricky Lee Trate, of the Hamburg area, was apprehended by Hamburg Borough Police and Tilden Township Police officers on Aug. 18 around 8 p.m. on suspicion of theft of a

firearm. Trate was transported to the Berks Central Processing Center and charged by the Tilden Township Police Department with multiple counts of felony and misdemeanor

theft, receiving stolen property and access device fraud. He was remanded to Berks

County Prison.

Trate is accused of the following acts done without the knowledge or permission of the respective property owners:

On July 29 he sold a rifle belonging to Brian Faith, of the 200 block of Memory Lane in Tilden Township, to Cabela’s for $100.

On Aug. 12 he used Faith’s debit card to purchase $12.43 worth of cigarettes at the

Square One Markets, Tilden Township.

On Aug. 13 he used Faith’s debit card to withdraw $100 out of a Vist Financial Bank

ATM in Hamburg Borough.

In July/August, he removed $7,820 worth of jewelry from Wendy Byerly’s residence during the time he lived with Faith and Byerly at a residence in the 200 block of Memory Lane in Tilden Township.

On Aug. 13-14 he removed $300 in cash and $600 worth of jewelry from Vicky Thomas’ residence in the 800 block of Memory Lane in Tilden Township while he was there fixing a kitchen faucet.

Handgun stolen from vehicle

Between Aug. 23 at 8:45 p.m. and Aug. 24 at 7 a.m. unknown actor(s) entered the unlocked vehicle of William J. Martin, 37, of Dogwood Road in Tilden Township, and removed a Sturm & Ruger semi-automatic handgun valued at about $350.

iPod stolen from vehicle

Between Aug. 23 at 10 p.m. and Aug. 24 at 8 a.m., unknown actor(s) entered

the unlocked vehicle of Rose M Sobonilla, 34, of the 100 block of Possum Road in Tilden Township, and removed an Apple iPod Nano valued at around $145. Anyone with any information should contact Tilden Township Police at 610-
