It’s time to get moving and help find a cure for breast cancer. Robeson Lutheran Church has teamed up with local licensed Zumba Fitness instructor, Megan McNicholas, to host the Tri-County Area’s first Party in PinkTM Zumbathon Charity event on Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Robeson Lutheran Church. The Party in PinkTM Movement is a global phenomenon of Zumbathon Charity events, all raising money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. So far, over $350,000 has been raised.

But, what exactly is a Zumbathon?

‘A Zumbathon Charity event is a fun fitness concert event, with music, Zumba dance, raffle prizes and inspiration. It’s a great way to raise money for a great cause by doing something good for yourself,’ said McNicholas. ‘You don’t have to be a great dancer, you can have two left feet and you don’t have to be super fit. If you like music and you like to move, a Zumbathon is an amazing experience you will never forget.’

At least 75% of the ticket sales go directly to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Participants will begin their Zumbathon experience with a short introduction to the Zumba program and basic rhythms and movements used. This tutorial is designed to help those who have never tried Zumba feel more comfortable once the party begins. Next, eight of the best Zumba instructors in the area will lead a high energy Zumba class. A guest speaker will share her personal story of triumph over breast cancer. Raffle prizes donated by local merchants will be given away, and all participants who register in advance will receive breast cancer awareness giveaways. Some of the prizes include gift certificates for a free house cleaning provided by Moore Cleaning for Less and Premier Jewelry by Consultant Kristen Dennison.

Tickets for this event are $25 and are available for purchase at Robeson Lutheran Church, though participating Zumba instructors, or at the door.
