Everywhere you looked, the PINK was OUT on Friday afternoon October 5th at the Middle School Turf Stadium, where the Twin Valley High School Girls Soccer Team hosted their first annual PINK OUT Cancer Awareness Fundraiser Event. Raising more than $700 in donations, the event idea for hosting the game and event came from Rookie Head Coach Colin Kent. Coach Kent commented, ‘Cancer has affected so many people throughout the world and in our community. The money raised at our PINK OUT event will be donated to benefit cancer research right here in the Twin Valley area.’

The hard work of coordinating this team effort event was done by Team Mom Suzanne Horan. Mrs. Horan, who has two daughters on the team, thanked numerous sponsors (HalfNuts Popcorn Company, LLC., Snips & Clips Dog Grooming, Reading United Soccer, Baj Hairdressing), thanked parent volunteers, athletes, teachers, staff and siblings who baked, ran the snack bar, manned the basket give-away table, helped decorate the stadium, painted the PINK OUT sign on the hill, sang the national anthem and cheered on the team. The team wore neon pink soccer socks, pink head bands and custom-made pink tye-dyed warm-up shirts. Local Twin Valley Recreation League players walked out on the field with the Varsity Starting Line-up and also got to play an exhibition game during half-time. The community came out and wore their pink, cheered on the girls, and donated to the cause.

Thank you all for a wonderful first year and $700+ in donations; the TVHS Girls Soccer team looks forward to expanding their fundraiser event next year!
