NEW HOLLAND, Pa. – This holiday season, shoppers can simplify their gift buying, save money and contribute to a good cause all at once. The Village Store and the Share & Care Shop at Garden Spot Village invite area shoppers to celebrate the holidays and take advantage of great bargains in support of the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund.
‘Participating shoppers are giving two gifts-the one they buy for a friend or family member and the gift that goes to the Benevolent Fund, which helps support residents who need financial assistance,’ said Deborah Fast, director of volunteer services at Garden Spot Village. The Village Store and the Share & CareShop are managed by the volunteer services department and staffed by volunteers.
The Christmas shopping season kicks off with a holiday celebration in the Village Store on Friday, Nov. 30, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. With every purchase of $20 or more, shoppers get 50 percent off a Christmas ornament. Carolers will perform at 12:15 p.m., and the shop will serve seasonal treats throughout the day.
The Share & Care Shop will hold its holiday celebration the following Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., with carolers at 1:15 and refreshments all day. Throughout the month of December, shoppers who buy one item receive 50percent off a second item of equal or lesser value. The Share & Care Shop offers a wide range of gently used housewares, dishes and other serveware, decorative items and furniture.
For the gentlemen, the Village Store will host a Men’s Shopping Night on Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. All jewelry will be 20 percent off. Personal shopping assistants will be available to help with gift selection, and giftwrapping will be available by donation. Refreshments will be served.
In addition to the above sale days, the Village Store is taking order for Bird-in-Hand Bakery pies. Six-, 8- and 10-inch pies are available for delivery to the Village Store on Nov. 15 and 29 and Dec. 6 and 20. A pie tasting will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Village Store.
Garden Spot Village is committed to providing excellent service and quality of living to residents who are unable to provide for the cost of their own care. Since the 2007 fiscal year, the cost for benevolent care has risen from $364,000 to approximately $1.9 million annually. To pay for this care, Garden Spot Village relies on contributions from individual and corporate donors; fundraising events, such as the Fall Festival and the annual golf outing; and the proceeds from the Share & Care Shop and the Village Store.
