Kutztown’s Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center hosted “Christmas on the Farm” on Dec. 8.
Christmas on the Farm featured folklife demonstrations, traditional crafters and vendors, and children’s crafts and activities including basket-making, ornament-making and more.
New at Christmas on the Farm was cider and cookies by a bonfire, alongside various interactive programs. Events included wreath-making demonstration, a lecture on the customs and traditions associated with a PA Dutch Christmas, a feather tree demonstration and information session, a discussion of the pre-Christian holiday of Yule – and its similarities to Christmas, and visits from the Belsnickel.
The Old Time Plow Boys cooked up some goodies and displayed antique tractors and farm equipment. The Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen artists demonstrated and sold their wares in the Guild Cabin.
