In today’s world where everything is so fast paced, it is sometimes difficult to take a step back from the hectic world— difficult, that is, for those who don’t have the opportunity to visit the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire offers an often much needed escape from reality where everyone can relax and enjoy life as a 16th century villager. This year marks the 33rd season of magic inside the castle gates, starting August 3 and continuing every Saturday, Sunday, and Labor Day Monday through October 27.
The entertainers at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire are the main attraction, and the Faire offers entertainment for all ages. The Faire has two different acting groups, the Blackfryars (a volunteer acting group) and the Bacchanalians (the professional acting company). These two acting troupes perform a season-long display of music, dance, kid’s activities, and action-packed shows, from the Ultimate Joust and Human Chess Match to Shakespearean plays. Audition dates for each company are rapidly approaching.
Blackfryar Auditions will be held from 10:00am – 5:00pm, in the mansion, on January 12th and 13th. All auditions are by appointment only. Those auditioning should prepare a 1-2 minute monologue (either comedic or dramatic) and be prepared to sing a 30 second song. Callbacks will be held in the afternoon and will stress movement. Those auditioning should wear loose fitting or comfortable clothing. Appointments can be made by calling (717) 665-7021 ext. 120.
