The Fraternal Order of Eagles’ motto is People Helping People and they are living up to it. The Kutztown Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie and Auxillary provided a bit of holiday cheer to needy local families in the Kutztown and Brandywine Heights school districts.
Through donations from the Kutztown Hobo’s Club, East Penn Manufacturing and member donations, 22 families celebrated Christmas with a turkey dinner with all the fixings. The donated meals consisted of a turkey, canned ham, potatoes, and vegetables and all that goes with it.
East Penn Manufacturing donated turkeys and The Kutztown Hobo’s Club donated 22 $50 gift cards to Weis Markets, which were included in each gift basket.
Additional food for the baskets was provided through generous donations from members of the Kutztown Aerie 839. Each basket provided enough food to last the family for a week.
In addition to Christmas dinner, 65 children in those families received Christmas presents provided by the membership of the Aerie.
The Aerie is already looking forward to next year’s event.
