The Caernarvon Township Berks County Police Department provides police protection for New Morgan Borough. The terms have been changed on the new contract which has been submitted to Borough Council for consideration. Council members will review the terms of the contract and possibly vote on it at the January 8 meeting.
Caernarvon Township Chief of Police Paul Stolz was in attendance. Carolyn Williams, borough manager, said there have been some instances of suspicious people in the early evening hours. However there have been no serious incidents recently.
Williams said the Berks County Planning Commission has reviewed and approved the design of all remaining cells and grow out for the Conestoga Landfill.
The budget for the Borough and the operation of the sewage treatment were approved. The new tax ordinance for 2013 was approved. The new tax millage for 2013 will be 4.5 mils. Meeting dates and times for 2013 meetings were approved. Borough meetings will continue to be at 5:30 pm on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. The next meeting and reorganization is planned for January 8.
Tressie Maroon Bailey was appointed to the Utilities Authority and the Industrial Development Authority. She will replace Stephen Caramenico who was appointed mayor.
