On Tuesday, Feb. 12 Trinity Lutheran Church of Kutztown’s East Main Street held their Annual 2013 Lenten Fawsnacht covered dish social on Shrove Tuesday, before Ash Wednesday, popularly called “Fawsnacht Day.” The event featured a variety of homemade food topped off with traditional PA Dutch fawsnachts with coffee or tea. Individuals enjoyed fellowship and games in the church social hall, celebrating, “Fat Tuesday,” consuming genuine homemade Fawsnachts made by Karen Haak of Lenhartsville.

Reverend Keith Rohrbach gave the dinner prayer and reminded friends and neighbors that Lent began Ash Wednesday, Feb. 13. Leonard Deitrich and his wife, Irma, supplied a number of car racing memorabilia souvenir mementos that were chanced off to the 60 or more people in attendance.

Prizes included a classic Clint Boyer racing jacket, with advertising logos, as the Grand Champion door prize, which I won. I attend the social every year for a chance at fellowship and to meet my Kutztown neighbors.
