NOTES OF THE WEEK 1. The Royals went 2-0-0-0 this past week, winning both ends of a home-and-home with theWheeling Nailers: 2-0 inWheeling on Saturday; and 2-1 in Reading on Sunday.

2. Reading is currently riding a team season-long four game win streak (4-0-0-0).

3. The Royals are 4-0-0-0 in the month of November. In the last eighteen games Reading has played in the month of November (including the 14 played last season), the team has compiled a record of 16-2-0-0.

4. The Royals’ 2-0 win in Wheeling on Saturday ran the team’s record to 3-0-0-0 on the road this season.

5. Saturday’s win was the 200th road win in the Royals’ 13-year team history (200-192-43), which is a .509 win percentage. Since 2010-11, the Royals have compiled a record of 66-34-11 on the road, which is a .644 win percentage.

6. Sunday’s 2-1 win at Santander Arena in Reading makred the first time this season that the Royals won back-to-back home games. The win pushed the Royals home record back to .500 (3-3-0-0) after six games at the newly re-named Santander Arena.

7. The Royals scored first in both games played this past week. Reading has recorded the game’s first goal in eight of the nine games the team has played so far this season. The team has a 6-2-0-0 record in those games.

8. The Royals have only allowed 17 total goals in nine games this year, which translates into a 1.89 team goals against average, which is second best in the league. Reading has held the opposition to two goals or less in six of the nine games played this season.

9. Reading has scored a total of 25 goals through nine games for a 2.78 goals per game average (tied for 12th).

10. The Royals outshot the Nailers in the two games

played this weekend, 62 – 40. Over the course of the season, Readin ghas outshot the opposition in eight of the nine games played. Reading has generated a total of

290 shots on goal (32.22 average-fifth best in the league); and has allowed 222 shots against (24.67 average-fourth best) for a plus-68 shot differential through nine games (an average of 7.56 shots per game).

11. After getting blanked in four opportunities with the man advantage on Saturday in Wheeling, Reading bagged a pair of power play goals (2-6) in Sunday’s win. That’s the third time this season that the Royals have scored two or more PPGs in a single game.

The Royals’ PP has been blanked in five of the nine games played so far.

12. Overall, the Royals power play has gone 8 for 38, which is a 21.1% scoring ratio (fourth best in the league). Seven of the eight power play goals scored by the Royals so far have come on home ice (7-30, 23.3%).

13. Reading’s penalty killers knocked off all eight power plays against the team faced this past week and have now killed 16 consecutive opportunities with the man advantage over a span of the last five games.

14. Reading has allowed five PPGAs in thirty-five chances for the opposition through nine gmes, which translates into an 85.7 percent kill ratio (tied for 10th in the league). The Royals have not allowed a power play goal against on the road (11 for 11). Reading is killing at a 79.2 percent ratio at home (five PPGA in 24 chances for the opposition).

MORE NOTES 1. Stanislav Galiev scored the game’s first goal in Saturday’s 2-0 win. That was his second ‘first goal’ of the season and proved to be the first game-winner of the season for Galiev, who led the Royals last season with eight GWGs. That goal was also a short-handed goal, which made it Galiev’s first short-handed goal as a pro. Galiev also recorded an assist on the Royals’ second goal in Saturday’s game to record his team leading fourth multi-point game of the year. Galiev, who has had at least one point in seven of the nine games played by the Royals, is currently riding a four game point streak (2g-4a=6pts). Galiev, who has recorded a team-leading 35 shots on goal, leads the Royals with 11 points (3g-8a) in nine games.

2. Louie Caporusso assisted on both goals scored by the Royals in Saturday’s 2-0 win. That marked his third consecutive multi-point performance. Caporusso has eight points (3g-5a) in nine games.

3. Dustin Gazley assisted on the game-winner – which was scored while the team was on the power play-in Sunday’s 2-1 win. Gazley is tied for second on the team in scoring with eight points (2g-6a). Gazley leads the Royals with five power play points (1g-4a).

4. Domenic Monardo scored the Royals’ second goal on Saturday and the team’s first goal on Sunday, which was his second ‘first goal’ of the year. Sunday’s goal, which was scored while the Royals were on the power play, was Monardo’s first power play goal as a pro. He is currently riding a four game goal scoring streak (4g) and a five game point streak (4g-1a). He has had at least one point in six of the eight pro games he’s played. Monardo leads the Royals with five goals. Those goals have come on just 20 shots, which translates into a team-leading 20 percent shooting percentage. Monardo also leads all active players on the roster in the plus-minus, playing to a plus-6.

5. Defenseman Ryan Kavanagh recorded the primary assist on the game winning power play goal in Sunday’s 2-1 win. He had a personal season-high five shots on goal in Saturday’s win. Kavanagh and Michal Cajkovsky, who assisted on the first goal of the game in Sunday’s win, have five points (1g-4a) and lead defensemen on the team in scoring.

6. Sean Wiles scored his first game winner as a Royal in Sunday’s win. That was his third goal in his last four games with Reading. Wiles also engaged in his first fight as a Royal when he took on former-Royal, Dustin Stevenson, in Saturday’s win in Wheeling.

7. Patrick Wey assisted on the Royals’ first goal (by Stan Galiev) in Saturday’s win in Wheeling. Wey was

recalled and reassigned by theWashington Capitals (NHL) to the Hershey Bears (AHL) on Monday.

8. Bryant Molle engaged in a pair of tilts this weekend. He took on Wheeling’s Christian Minella on Saturday (Nov. 9) and the Nailers Patrick McGrath on Sunday. (He also took on Chaz Johnson in a tussle on riday that pretty much looked like a fight to me – but was recorded as roughing minors for both.) Molle, who leads the Royals with three tilts, has recorded a team-leading 21 penalty minutes.

9. Ethan Cox engaged in his first fight of the season when he dropped with Wheeling’s Ryley Miller on Friday. That was Cox’s second fight as a Royal. He took on Darren Kramer of the Elmira Jackals back on November 14, 2012.

10. Brett Flemming was involved in the tenth right of the year (in nine games) for the Royals, when he fought Wheeling’s Carter Rowney 7:14 into the third period in Sunday’s win.

11. Goaltender Brandon Anderson stopped all nineteen shots he faced on Friday to record the team’s first shutout of the season. That was Anderson’s third shutout as a pro-all three as a member of the Royals and all three against the Nailers. Both of Anderson’s wins this year have come in Wheeling’s WesBanco Arena. Anderson’s 1.68 goals against average is tied for sixth best in the league.

12. Goaltender Riley Gill stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced on Sunday to record his fourth win of the year. Gill has held the opposition to two goals or less in five of the six games he’s played for the Royals this year, and his 1.83 goals against average is tenth best in the league. Sunday’s game marked the 18th time in 36 total games played for the Royals (regular season and playoffs) that Gill has held the opposition to one goal or less.
