Pennsylvania State Police responded to a two car crash on SR 61 on March 7 at 6:20 a.m. James Ketner, 60 of Pottsville, was traveling southbound and was stopped in the right lane due to traffic. Leann Knoblauch, 35 of Port Clinton, was traveling behind Ketner.
Knoblauch momentarily took her eyes off the road and did not see Ketner stopped. Knoblauch’s car hit the rear of Ketner’s. After impact, both cars were removed from the roadway. There were no injuries. VJ Wood towed Knoblauch’s vehicle.
Criminal Mischief
Pennsylvania State Police Hamburg are investigating the report of Criminal Mischief on March 8-9 between 6 p.m. to 9 the detached blacksmith shop of Bruce Robert Wallace, 53 of Kempton, located at 9734 Kistler Valley Rd in Albany township. The unknown actor(s) broke out shop window panes with rocks. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the PSP Hamburg Station at 610-562-6885.
Police are investigating a one vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of New Schaefferstown Rd and Four Point Rd in Tulpehocken township on March 9 at 12:30 a.m.
Amy Fernandez, 28 of Myerstown, was traveling westbound on New Schaefferstown Rd near the intersection with Four Points Rd. An unknown driver was directly behind as Fernandez approached the intersection at the blinking red traffic signal. Fernandez went around a tractor trailer disabled on the right shoulder partially blocking the westbound lane and then stopped at the red traffic signal. The unknown driver failed to stop at a safe distance and struck Fernandez’s rear bumper.
Both drivers got out of their vehicles and agreed to meet at a nearby gas station to exchange information due to minor vehicle damage. The unknown driver fled the area on the way.
The vehicle is described as a dark colored smaller vehicle, possible Dodge Neon. The driver is described as a white, non-hispanic male, thin build, approx. 5’10” with a small reddish/brown short beard in his approx. 20s. He was wearing a “beanie” head cap and jacket. Hit and Run
At 5:30 p.m. on March 9 an unknown driver struck the mailbox at the residence of 8160 Old Route 22 in Bethel Township. The unknown driver was traveling westbound, exited the highway and entered onto the southbound shoulder of the eastbound lane. The driver then struck the mailbox and fled the scene in an unknown direction without notifying the residence owners or exchanging required information. Due to paint transfer on the mail box, the vehicle is believed to be a light green color.
Criminal Mischief
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the report of Criminal Mischief to Brad Slifer’s, 40 of Shartelsville, 2007 Volkswagen GLI. On March 9-10 between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. unknown actor(s) threw two eggs at Slifer’s vehicle striking the front hood and rear diver’s side window. No damage occurred. The Pennsylvania State Police investigated a domestic dispute on March 12 at 4:15 a.m. bewteen Peter John Mundell, 57 of Shartlesville, and Rachelle Denise Mundell, 49 of Shartlesville. The dispute resulted in P. Mundell being scratched in the face by R. Mundell and R. Mundell with brusing from being struck in the face by P. Mundell. both were cited with harrassment.
On March 12 at an undesignated time police responded to a three vehicle crash on Bernville Road in Birdsboro. The crash occurred as Anthony Jordan, 25 of Cressona, was travelling southbound on SR 183. Jordan failed to see that Bruce Frymoyer, 59 of Hamburg, was at a stop attempting to turn left into Redner’s Quick Shoppe. Jordan rear ended Frymoyer. The impact from the crash pushed Frymoyer into Donna Gould, 50 of Bernville, who was travelling northbound at the time.
Frymoyer was transported to the Reading Hospital with minor injuries as a result of the crash. All three vehicles were damaged to the extent that they needed to be towed. Bernville Fire Department and Bethel EMS assisted at the scene.
SR 183 North bound was shut down while the scene was cleared.
On March 15 Hamburg Police arrested Kevin Albert Gantkowski, 28 of Hamburg, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Controlled Substance. This stems from an incident that allegedly occurred on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at approximately 10:50 p.m. at North 5th and Island Streets in Hamburg.
