The Alpha/Omega Players auditions for a Tony Award winning Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical in the Alpha/Omega Performing Arts Center, 301 E. First Street, Birdsboro. Strong singer/dancers are needed along with strong singers that can move. Auditions are held at 11 a.m. and open to anyone ages 13 and up. All those auditioning should be prepared for a dance/movement audition.

THERAPY DOG The Mifflin Community Library. 6 Philadelphia Ave., Shillington, will hold a ‘Read to Bean’ event at 4 p.m., where residents can come to read to Bean, a therapy dog. Exeter Township School District senior citizens are invited to a free breakfast and dress rehearsal presentation of the Senior High Musical ‘Carnival.’ ‘Carnival’ was originally produced on Broadway in 1961, with the book by Michael Stewart and music and lyrics by Bob Merrill.
Breakfast will be served in the SHS cafeteria starting at 8:15 a.m. and the musical will begin in the auditorium at 9 a.m. To reserve a seat for breakfast and/or obtain a Senior Citizen Courtesy Card, telephone 610-779-0700 ext. 1001 no later than April 5. Reservations are ONLY NEEDED for district residents (Exeter Township and St. Lawrence Borough) who want to attend the breakfast. WALKING FOR LIFELONG HEALTH, SKILLS AND SAFETY
Safe Routes Berks and Berks County Intermediate Unit will be holding ‘Walking for Lifelong Health, Skills and Safety,’ a one-day professional development experience for K – 8 grade educators. This professional development training is comprised of a 6 hour tutorial on pedestrian skills and safety lessons – including getting on and off of a school bus safely. Participants will begin the day at the BCIU and then be transported to a local elementary school for the outdoor walking training. The program will be held 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the BCIU Main Office, 1111 Commons Blvd., Reading. A Historic Quilt Exhibit will be held at the Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, 2 Mark Bird Lane, Elverson from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Visitors may view some of the many patterns and fabrics that were used in quilts of the past. The exhibit is great to learn about the art of quilting.
JAZZ CONCERT The Exeter Community Concert Band will perform a musical tribute in jazz to honor to work of the Civilian Conservation Corps. The tribute will begin at 2 p.m. at the Park Visitor Center at the Hopewell Furnace.

The Exeter Community Library is excited to announce that the adventurous children’s book character Ladybug Girl will be visiting us for a Sleepytime at 7 p.m. Meet her at The Exeter Community Library and participate in storytelling, songs, and rhymes. Everyone can get their picture taken with Ladybug Girl and door prizes will be given to a few lucky winners.
