Hopewell Christian Fellowship (HCF) will host their annual Mission Auction on Friday, April 19, at the HCF’s New Life Center, located at 2286 Hopewell Road in Elverson, Pa.
Doors to the event will open at 4:30 p.m., when the evening begins with silent auction bidding.
The live auction will begin at 6 p.m., with Auctioneer Tracey L. Jones, who will be donating his time and services to the event free of charge, running the auction.
‘Tracey is a great auctioneer, he is very animated and we are thrilled to have him here again to help with the auction,’ Hopewell Christian Fellowship Pastor Mark Kraybill said.
Included in the approximately two hundred items going up for auction at the event are furniture and household items, 150 gallons of home heating oil or off road fuel, local honey, cakes, themed gift baskets, local business coupons, and much more.
According to Pastor Kraybill, the proceeds from the food sales and the auction will be split to support two mission projects, one in Hong Kong and the other in Kenya.
In Hong Kong, the proceeds will help HCF parishioners David and Krista Stoltzfus (and their three children) in their work toward establishing a church, the Happy News Church, and to train church pastors and church leaders.
In Kenya, the monies will aid the efforts of the organization YOMAC (Youth Mothers and Children) Family Health Programme, a community-based program providing food and health care to orphans in the city of Eldoret. Harrison Aluda, representing YOMAC, will be in attendance at the auction with items from Kenya and also to show a short film on the work of YOMAC. Aluda is looking to establish an orphanage in Eldoret, where YOMAC uses funds provided by the members of HCF to provided food to approximately 90 orphans.
‘I think of this as a way for the church to partner with others around the world to help with both physical and spiritual needs,’ said Pastor Kraybill.
Food prepared by church members will be available for purchase throughout the evening, with soups, baked goods, hot dogs and hamburgers and soups being among the items to enjoy at the venue or packaged for takeout.
Pastor Kraybill said that last year’s auction raised approximately $12,000 in proceeds. That money was used to help fund the construction of a church in Ica, Peru, and helped to send 20 HCF church members to Ica to assist with the construction.
