Community Joins for Charity Auction and Family Fun

Thursday, April 4, 2013

The Community Spring Fling will be held at Little Mates Child Development Center located at 3025 North Street in Morgantown on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. What began years ago as a small fundraiser for a local child care has flourished into a full blown community event.
Director Kristy Huyett said that she is amazed at this year’s participation and is pleased that it has turned into an outlet for raising funds for three local non-profit organizations, including the Twin Valley Relay for Life, Angelina Foundation, and the Village Library of Morgantown.
In addition to over 65 crafters and businesses, games, silent and Chinese Auctions, food, DJ, and live performances, this year the event will include its first ever LIVE benefit Auction with the help of Huyett’s Auctioneering. Proceeds from the live auction will funnel back to each of the three local non-profit organizations. This has been an amazing opportunity to network, give back to the community, and enjoy a day of fun for the whole family. The event will take place rain or shine.
The Berks County Association for the Blind will be offering free preventative vision screenings with printed results for children of the county ages 3-5 and are available to provide the same service to any day care, babysitter, or preschool in the county. The Miller-Keystone Blood Mobile will welcome donors between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Food provided by the Mill General Store will include hoagies, tomato pie, and cold beverages. Dutch Valley confections will feature unique fried foods such as mac and cheese bites, mushrooms, onion rings, corn nuggets, potatoes, and cheese as well as gourmet nuts and chocolate dipped fruits and cheesecake on a stick. Truax Grill will serve fresh burgers with toppings, pulled pork, and coffee. There will also be several stands providing you with opportunities for food sampling.
There will be many cash and carry items and opportunity to buy your Mother’s Day gifts.
“There will be something for everyone,” promised Huyett.
Auction donations (gently used items, gift certificates, etc.) will be accepted for the live benefit auction up until April 11. Visit for more information on participants, donations, and performances.
