A 57-year-old woman has been charged with driving under the influence and driving on the sidewalk after police followed witnesses of an incident to her home on March 23.
Jan Houck, of Boyertown, was seen driving a yellow Chevy Monte Carlo on Fairview Street that afternoon. Witnesses told police that they saw the Monte Carlo hit two parked cars, drive onto the sidewalk then hit a staircase leading up to 35 Fairview Street.
After witnesses saw the incident, they told police the car continued down 2nd street with a disabled front passenger side tire.
Police followed witnesses and a thick black tire mark that ended in the 200 block of Greshville Road and saw a yellow Monte Carlo parked in the driveway, police said.
Houck was inside her home wearing a jacket and holding a purse, according to police.
She told police that she did not notify the owners of the cars or the home of the damage, police said.
Houck was unsteady and slurring her words. She failed a field sobriety test, according to police.
After a blood analysis, her blood alcohol content was .07 percent, police said.
There are no reports of injuries after the collisions,
She was charged with driving under the influence, driving on the sidewalk, failure to notify police of an accident, trespassing with a motor vehicle, reckless driving and other related charges.
A summons has been issued for Houck, according to court documents.
Houck’s preliminary arraignment is scheduled for May 6 in front of District Judge Michael G. Hartman at 11:30 a.m., court document said.
