French Creek Boutique is celebrating their second anniversary by going green on Earth Day. It’s only natural for Earth Day to be an exciting time for store owners Melynda Wagner and Lucinda Royer.
‘The very substance of our existence is eco-friendliness. Our consignment shop is all about conserving, recycling, upcyling and repurposing our fashions and home items. We want our once loved by one person items to have several lives by being adopted and fashioned by someone else or welcomed and acclimated into a new home,’ said Wagner.
To celebrate their anniversary and to spread the word about recycling and repurposing, this year French Creek Boutique will be hosting a ‘Go Green Giveaways’. As many ‘fashionistas’ know, the 2013 Color of the Year is Emerald Green. So in support of both causes, one, the Earth and second, the latest in fashion trends, they decided to collect entries for a chance to win a gently-used Kelly Green leather B. Makowski Handbag ($99 value) and a pair of New Emerald Green Gads Rainwear ($59 Value). To enter to win, people need to ‘like’ their Facebook page between the week of April 13 through April 27, or stop into the boutique during that time and enter their name. One lucky winner will be announced on Wednesday, May 1.
‘Earth Day is all about educating and bringing awareness to everyone about what we as individuals can do on a daily basis to preserve, sustain and make the earth a better environment for all of us,’ Wagner said. ‘By keeping things in circulation and out of the landfills we can, little by little, preserve our resources and the land that we love so dearly. Plus when we let go of ‘things’ or if we can repurpose our treasures, we can also find peace and extra money from these efforts.’
During the two week celebration, which kicks off on Saturday, April 20, French Creek Boutique will be having several in-store specials in conjunction with their sister store, French Creek Home in Morgantown. The Morgantown store will be having a ‘Green Dollar Day’ Yard Sale with many treasures to be found both big and small, plus drinks and refreshments at both stores to celebrate their anniversary.
