DUI

Joseph Pietruch Jr., 21 of Mohrsville, was operating a 2010 Dodge Ram and was stopped for a speeding violation at 11:08 p.m. on March 28. It was determined he was DUI. Charges will be filed at the office of MDJ Bagenstose.

DUI

Randy Faust, 56 of Hamburg, was operating a 2005 Toyota Corolla and stopped for a speeding violation at 2:02 a.m. on March 31 on SR 61 between Industrial Drive and Schappel Rd., Windsor Twp. It was determined he was DUI. Charges will be filed at the office of MDJ Bagenstose.

Theft

Between March 22 and April 5, Anthony Stafford of Bernville had various pieces of I beams, Angle Iron and 4” Galvanized pipe stolen from his property. Also removed from the residence was a 4’ wide Sickle Bar Mower. Value of the items is estimated at $500. Anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to contact PSP Hamburg at 610-562-6885.

Domestic Disturbance

On April 5 at 1 a.m. police responded to 301 Frystown Road in Bethel for a domestic disturbance. It was determined that the victim, an unnamed 41 year old female from Myerstown, sustained a bruised eye from the accused, 31 year old unnamed male from Myerstown, striking her on April 5. The accused was taken into custody and charges were completed. The accused was transported to Berks County Central processing for immediate arraignment. The victim was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center for medical evaluation. An investigation continues.

Accident

Pennsylvania State Police responded to an accident on PA-183 in Upper Tulpehocken on April 5 at 12:43 p.m. Norris Fernandez, 59 of Reading, was travelling north on SR 183 and experienced a ruptured right front tire. Fernandez was unable to keep his car within the right lane and struck the east guide rail. He travelled approximately 70 feet in a northerly direction and came to rest blocking the north bound lane. Fernandez was uninjured. The northbound lane was blocked for approximately 40 minutes. Traffic was controlled by members of the Strausstown Fire Company. Summary charges of driving vehicle at a safe speed and unlawful activities were filed against Fernandez through the district court 23-3-07 of Bernville.

DUI

Gregory Schultz of Mohrsville, Pa was arrested at the Cousin’s Pub in Perry Township on April 6 at 1:23 a.m. He was arrested for a DUI in the Cousin’s Pub parking lot after being observed on Main Street in Shoemakersville Driving up onto the curb on three occasions nearly striking a pedestrian. Schultz was transported for a blood draw and was subsequently arraigned.

Harassment

Pennsylvania State Police responded to an incident of harassment on April 6 at 5 p.m. on Frystown road in Bethel Township. An unidentified 31 year old male of Myerstown threatened to kill an unidentified 41 year old female while engaging in a verbal argument. Charges against the accused were filed at district court 23-3-07. An investigation continues.

Harassment

Police responded to an incident at 300 Block Plum Road in Centre Township on April 6 at 7:37 p.m. A 14 year old male attacked both of his parents because he was upset about doing house work. The accused will be cited for harassment at District Court 23-3-05.

Arrest

Toni DeFrancseco , 36 of Hamburg, was arrested at the Pizza Hut on 140 Wilderness Drive on April 6 at 8:42 p.m. DeFrancseco was seated at the Pizza Hut and was drinking alcohol she arrived with. DeFrancseco was intoxicated and taken into custody and taken to Berks County Central Booking for immediate arraignment for Public Drunkenness and outstanding warrants.

Arrest

On April 7 at 2:12 a.m. Paul Leroy Correll III, 38 of Hamburg, was stopped for a moving violation as well as an expired registration plate. It was determined that he was under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested and then found to be in possession of brass knuckles.

Domestic Disturbance

On April 7 Pennsylvania State Police responded to a domestic disturbance at 301 Frystown Road at 9:29 a.m. It was determined that the unnamed suspect, 31 year old male of Myerstown, shoved the unnamed victim, 41 year old female of Myerstown, into a wall and made a fist at her while engaging in a physical domestic disturbance. Charges against the accused were filed at district court 23-3-07. An investigation continues.

Criminal Mischief

Police responded to an incident on 800 Block River Road in Centre Township on April 7 at an unidentified time. Amanda Yahn, 19 of Mohrsville, approached Michelle Loeb’s vehicle, 21 of Mohrsville, and kicked the vehicle, shattering the taillight. This was after an earlier argument between the two. Yahn has been cited for Criminal Mischeif at District Court 23-3-05.

Accident

Police responded to an accident on Hawk Mountain Road in Albany Township at 1:45 a.m. on April 8. Joseph Triano, 22, of Tamaqua, was travelling east bound on Hawk Mountain Road and was attempting to negotiate a left curve in the roadway. The initial impact occurred when Triano failed to initiate the left curve in the roadway and exited the south side of the road and into the roadside. He continued to travel on the roadside where he struck a utility pole with its front end and sheared the pole in half. Triano then continued to travel east bound in the south side of the road where it went down a steep ditch and came to rest. The 2000 Nissan Maxima Triano he was driving suffered disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene. Triano fled the accident and was subsequently charged for leaving the scene.

Vehicle Fire

Terry L Mathis, 53 of Steelton, experienced brake problems on April 9 at 8:23 a.m. While pulled over on the shoulder of an unnamed street 49 feet east of I-78, Mathis observed smoke coming from the vehicle. The vehicle then became engulfed in flames and rolled backwards crossing the travel lane and striking a PennDOT informational sign. The vehicle then traveled into the grass median and came to a final rest. Frystown Fire Dept. responded and extinguished the fire.
