The Boyertown High baseball team lost a pair of games last week. The Bears are now 5-2 in the PAC-10 and 5-3 overall.
On April 13, the Bears were blanked by Governor Mifflin in a non-league contest, 7-0.
On April 15, the Bears played host to Phoenixville in a PAC-10 game. The Phantoms scored three unearned runs in the top of the sixth to break a scoreless tie, then hung on to a 3-2 victory.
A.J. Bogucki was the losing pitcher, allowing two hits and five walks in six innings of work.
The Boyertown High softball team improved to 4-2 in the PAC-10 and 4-2 overall after defeating Pottsgrove on April 15, 6-3. With the game tied at 3-3, the Lady Bears scored two runs in the top of the sixth and one more in the seventh to earn the victory.
Vicki Schlott led the Boyertown offense with three hits, one RBI and one run scored. Becky Marburger added two hits and two RBIs and Melissa Bond had two hits and one RBI.
Mandy Kalil was the winning pitcher, allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks in seven innings. She struckout two.
The Boyertown High School boys’ lacrosse team improved to 4-3 in the PAC-10 and 4-4 overall after defeating Pottsgrove on April 15, 16-6.
Tyler Fuhrman led the Boyertown offense with two goals and two assists in the game. Chris Lees scored three goals while Cody Orff and Alec Paladino each had two goals. Brock Johnson added a goal and two assists while John Bennett, Andrew Bilanin, Mitch Grohoski and Austin Mutter.
The Boyertown High girls’ lacrosse team improved to 7-0 in PAC-10 action after defeating Upper Perkiomen April 15, 16-1.
Rachel Engler led the Boyertown offense with a goal and six assists in the game.
Emma Morgan and Annie Rodgers each had three goals and one assist, while Kaitlyn DeHaven had two assists. Karli Gilbert, Alex O’Herrick and Marie Valenti each had two goals.
Katie Buckwalter made five saves in goal for Boyertown.
On Monday, April 15, the Bears lost to Spring-Ford, 6-1. Boyertown’s lone victory came from Evan Farkosh, 6-7, 7-5, 6-3.
The Oley Valley High School baseball team improved to 5-0 on the Berks League and 9-2 overall after defeating Brandywine Heights on April 15, 8-5.
With the game tied at 2-2, Oley scored twice in the fifth and broke it open with four in the top of the seventh. Brandywine made it interesting in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs.
Collin Fesi led the Oley Valley offense with two hits including a home run and three RBIs. Jay Kerkeslager added two hits, two runs scored and one RBI. Nick Distasio had three hits including a home run and was the winning pitcher. He allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits and a walk in 6 2/3 innings. He struckout 14 batters. Garrett Pelko came on to get the last out and pick up the save.
The Oley Valley High School softball team lost a pair of games last week. The Lady Lynx are 3-2 in the Berks League and 6-4 overall.
On April 13, the Lady Lynx traveled to Schuylkill Valley to take on the Panthers in a non-league game. The Panthers won the game, 10-4.
Heather Rissel led the Oley Valley team with a signle and a double.
The Lynx got back into Berks League play April 15 to host Brandywine Heights. The Lady Bullets scored five runs in the third, three in the sixth and three in the seventh in a 12-0 victory over the Lynx.
Oley had just one hit in the game and committed five errors.
Brooke Yerger was the losing pitcher.
The Oley Valley High School boys’ track team improved to 2-2 in the Berks League after defeating Kutztown on April 16, 104-45.
The Lynx were led by Michael Allen who was a double winner, taking first place in the 100 (11.88 seconds) and the 200 (24.13).
Also winning individual events for the Lynx were: Chris Shewell, 400 (55.43 seconds); Eric Saverese, 3,200 (12:03.0); Jacob Good, discus (122’-11”); Matt Gehman, javelin (141’-2 3/4”); Jon Guntz, triple jump (33’-11”); and Joe Sell, pole vault (11’-0”).
Also winning for Oley was the 3,200 relay team of Matt Auer, Jacob Hartz, Shewell and Gabe Duran (9:36.88); the 400 relay team of Bryan Behm, Anthony Knarr, Nate Dietrich and Allen (46.81 seconds); and the 1,600 relay team of Dietrich, Duran, Sauer and Shewell (3:57.11).
The Oley Valley High School girls’ track team earned their first win of the season when the Lady Lynx defeated Kutztown on April 16, 127-23.
Nicole Snyder led the way for Oley with three individual event wins. She was first in the 100 hurdles (18.03 seconds), 300 hurdles (56.50 seconds) and the pole vault (8’-0”).
Thalia Williamson, Gabby Gieringer and Sarah Kane were all double winners for Oley.
Williamson was first in the 100 (13.63 seconds) and 200 (27.69 seconds); Gieringer won the long jump (14’-11 1/4”) and triple jump (32’-2”); while Kane won the discus (85’-5”) and the shot put (33’5”).
Also winning for Oley Valley were: Amanda Aulenbach, 400 (1:06.03); Rachel Stahl, 800 (2:34); Julianna Pierdomenico, 3,200 (13:37); Skyler Fretz, high jump (4’-6”); and Megan Deptula, javelin (93’-05 1/4”).
Also winning for Oley was the 400 relay team of Deptula, Erin Gillingham, Becca Zechman and Williamson (53.97); the 1,600 relay team of Williamson, Becca Zechman, Sarah Zechman and Stahl (4:28.10); and the 3,200 relay team of Madison Wagner, Becca Zechman, Stahl and Aulenbach (11:19.40).
