The following information is taken from police reports and court records.

Crash: On May 29 at about 6:30 p.m. state police at Schuylkill Haven responded to a crash on Route 61 South east of Manheim Road in North Manheim Township. Police said George Stokes, 54, Allentown, sideswiped an SUV driven by Deborah Hoy, 45, Orwigsburg. Stokes then sped off and fled the scene. A passenger in the SUV, was able to note the license plate number that led police to the identify the driver. There were no injuries.

Crash: On May 28 at about 2:50 p.m. state police at Schuylkill Haven responded to a crash on the Gordon Nagle Trail, south of Mengle Street, in North Manheim Township. Police said a car was traveling north on the Gordon Nagle Trail when a deer ran into the road. The driver attempted to avoid striking the deer, but the deer struck the passenger side door and front quarter panel, causing minor damage. The Toyota was driven away from the scene.

Crash: State police at Schuylkill Haven responded to a crash on Bethel Road south of Stanhope Road in Pine Grove Township on May 28 at about 4:30 p.m. Police said Sonny Cook, 18, Pine Grove, was driving north on Bethel Road and lost control of his SUV. It slid across both lanes and struck the guard rail off the southbound lane, then crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by Kael McNeal, 26, Tower City. Both vehicles had disabling damage and were towed from the scene. A passenger in McNeal’s vehicle was transported to Lehigh Valley East Hospital for a possible injury. There were no other injuries.

Crash: On May 28 at about 6 p.m. state police at Schuylkill Haven responded to a crash on Route 209 in Porter Township. Samuel Boyle, 41, Philadelphia, lost control of his van and struck a tree. Boyle was not injured. The van was towed from the scene.

Theft: State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the theft of a license plate bearing the number LJF-1719. Police said Ross Novack, 31, York, reported the plate stolen from a vehicle parked at 190 S. Tremont St., in Tremont Township, on May 27 at about 10:25 a.m.

Crash: Callista Rojas Mendez, 22, Shenandoah, suffered a minor injury in a crash on May 26 at about 4 p.m. on Route 183 south of Long Lane. State police at Schuylkill Haven said that due to the rain, Rojas Mendez lost control of her vehicle and struck a guide rail just south of Long Lane.

Crash: State police at Schuylkill Haven responded to a crash on May 26 at about 2:45 p.m. on the Gordon Nagle Trail north of Cressona Road in North Manheim Township. Police said Savannah Stahley, 19, Pine Grove, attempted to make way for an ambulance and lost control of her car, which flipped onto its driver’s side. Stahley was not injured and was able to get out of the car before it caught fire.

Crash: On May 26 at about 2:15 a.m. state police at Schuylkill Haven responded to a crash at Cressona Mall at Route 61 South. Police said Dwayne Palmer, 38, New Castle, Del., was driving a tractor trailer that became stuck on a guide rail as he attempted to make a turn. Palmer proceeded to pull forward, causing damage to the trailer’s rear tires and rims. The trailer struck a traffic light pole as well.

Drug possession: On May 19, state police at Schuylkill Haven initiated a traffic stop. Through a consented search of the vehicle, all three occupants, Adam Wilhelm, 31, Pine Grove; Jensen Kauffman, 24, Pine Grove, and Joshua Stoffregen, 42, Pottsville, were found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. One passenger had an outstanding warrant and was transported to Schuylkill County Prison.

Drug possession: State police at Schuylkill Haven arrested Bruce McHenry, 59, Pine Grove on May 19 at about 2:10 a.m. Police conducted a traffic stop at 21/2 Mile Road and Suedberg Road in Pine Grove Township. During further investigation they found McHenry to be possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. The investigation is ongoing.

Theft: State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the theft of a black/gold 2003 Honda CR125. The motorbike was stolen between May 16 and 17, from a trailer in a yard at River Street, Cressona.

Theft: State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the theft of Florida registration plate JBAG24 from a 2013 Ford Explorer. Edward Vance, 55, Temple Terrace, Fla., told police he parked his SUV in the area of the Appalachian Trail parking lot at Port Clinton on May 16 at about 8 a.m., and when he returned on May 17 at about 3 p.m. the plate was missing.

Crash: On May 17 at about 12:45 p.m. state police at Schuylkill Haven responded to a crash at Pottsville Street and Cressona Mall Road in North Manheim Township. Police said Kimberly Fletcher, 47, Pottsville, was stopped at a stop sign. Jeffrey Albert, 34, Tremont, was driving east on Pottsville Street entering the intersection of Pottsville Street and Cressona Mall Road. Fletcher began to turn and struck Albert’s vehicle. Albert was transported by Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven Area EMS to Lehigh Valley East for an injury.

DUI crash: On May 16 at about 11 p.m. state police at Schuylkill Haven investigated a crash on Route 61 and Seven Stars Road in North Manheim Township. During the investigation it was determined the driver, Brandon Wasser, 19, Schuylkill Haven, was impaired while driving. The investigation is ongoing.
