What's Cooking with linda Yuengel: Something easy for tonight!

Thursday, April 25, 2013

Sometimes I just want to open a few cans and drop in some spice and let my dinner simmer. Easy is the way to go on a lot of busy evenings!
Don Lasowecky, Fleetwood, shares this recipe for Crock Pot Italian Hot Sausage. I’m not a good one for “hot” sausage, so I made this recipe with “sweet” sausage and enjoyed it very much. Set your crock-pot on low and take a break from the kitchen clean up one night – you won’t regret it!
Crock Pot – Italian Hot Sausage
1 – 24 oz. Jar – Tomato & Basil Spaghetti Sauce
1 – 8 oz. Can – Tomato Sauce
1 – 14 oz Can – Diced Tomatoes
1 – 6 oz. Can – Tomato Paste
1 – 4 oz. Can – Mushrooms, stems & pieces
2 T – Oregano
2T – Basil
2T – Fennel Seeds
3T – Brown Sugar
1 – large green bell pepper – julienne sliced
1 – large Vidalia sweet onion – thinly sliced
3-4 Garlic cloves – minced
Italian Sausage 1-3 lbs. Depending on need
Put all ingredients in slow cooker for 5-6 hours.
