BCTC students compete at HOSA State Competition

BCTC students competed at the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) State Leadership Conference from April 17-19 in Lancaster.

Students from Dental Occupations, Health Occupations, Medical Health Professions and from the Protective Services program had an opportunity to showcase their talents in the HOSA Competitive Events by competing against hundreds of students from across Pennsylvania.

BCTC students earned 14 Gold, 6 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals. By placing in the top three in their respective competitions, 24 students have earned the opportunity to compete at the HOSA National Leadership Conference that will be held June 26-29 in Nashville, TN.

HOSA is a Career & Technical Student Organization open to students enrolled in the Healthcare and Protective Service programs. The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for skill and leadership development of all health science technology education students.


East Campus student from the Tulpehocken District advancing to the National Leadership Conference is Krista Naftzinger who is in the Dental Occupations program and received a Silver medal in the Dental Terminology category. West Campus students in the Hamburg District advancing are McKalin Bartashus who is in the Health Occupations program and received a Gold medal in the Medical Photography category and Myles Wolf who is in the Protective Services program and received a Gold medal in the CPR/First Aid (Team of 2) category.
