Hamburg residents participated in the community-wide cleanup effort, Keep Hamburg Beautiful, on Saturday, April 27.
Close to 50 volunteers came out to help clean sweep the neighborhood from Maple Street down to Island Street on 3rd and 4th Streets and the alleyways. Some of the volunteers were from The Bridge Church, Boy Scouts and community members.
Volunteers said that people driving by would yell ‘thank you’ out of their windows when they saw the cleanup.
‘The cleanup went very well,’ said Angela Kase. ‘It was very well received.’
Our Town Foundation hosted the event and provided bags, gloves and water to volunteers. A post-cleanup cookout followed for participants as well. Sponsors of the event were Society Cleaners, Berks Foods, Keep America Beautiful and Hamburg Southgate Neighborhood.
