SPRING CITY – A father-son duo was arrested early Sunday in a raid tied to their suspected drug-dealing in the borough.
Travis Gene Robinson, 55, and his son, Cory Gene Robinson, 19, were arrested for allegedly dealing marijuana and other ‘numerous controlled substance prescription drugs,’ according to the Spring City Police.
A search warrant for the residence at 519 Broad St. was issued ‘based on prior months’ investigation where several illicit drug purchases were made at the residence by undercover officers.’
Police noticed ‘large amounts of activity going in and out of the residence’ and tips from local residents aided the investigation.
When police executed the search warrant, they turned up marijuana, prescription drugs and a sawed-off shotgun.
Additionally, police also seized ‘numerous items that are restricted by the Controlled Substance Act.’
Both Robinsons were charged with possession of a modified offensive weapon, criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia.
They were arraigned before District Judge Theodore Michaels and sent to Chester County Prison in lieu of $75,000 cash bail each.
The elder Robinson has two arrests dating to the late 1990s relating to driving under the influence, according to court documents.
Corey Robinson is still waiting for a preliminary hearing relating to an incident in East Vincent Jan. 24 in which he was charged with careless driving and possessing prescription drugs with no personal prescription.
The release from Chief Tony Kuklinski, of the Spring City Police, said the investigation was a ‘coordinated effort’ involving the East Pikeland Police and the Chester County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force.
To serve the warrant, the Spring City Police were joined by officers from the East Coventry, East Vincent and Royersford Police Departments.
This latest bust highlights cooperation between several police departments in the Spring-Ford area to cut down on crime, specifically drug trafficking.
Just a week ago, the Royersford Police arrested two with Spring City ties for allegedly trafficking heroin in the area.
In early March, the Spring City Police arrested another pair operating out of the Highview Garden Apartments for allegedly dealing cocaine and marijuana.
‘The agencies will continue to increase cooperation between the county lines to provide increased safety to both our communities,’ said Tom Godin Sr., of the Royersford Police last week.
