After opening its 2013 season with a single race last weekend, the Sunoco Race Fuels Money Trail E.T. Bracket Racing Series will be coming back to Maple Grove Raceway this weekend with events on Saturday and Sunday.

Both days will feature a twist. Saturday’s race will also include the first of two NHRA King of the Track event; Sunday will include the debut of the Boninfante Friction B1 Index Series.

The weekend begins Friday night, May 3, with the initial Auto Locator Grudge Race of the season. Those wanting to see what their car can do on a racetrack are welcome to enter Maple Grove’s gates after 4 p.m. Racing begins promptly at 5. Admission is $20 for street driven cars and $25 for entries on a trailer. Spectators are $10 with children 12 and under free.

Saturday’s gates open at 9 a.m. with time trials at 10 a.m. and eliminations immediately after the second round of time shots.

King of the Track is an NHRA program that gives the weekly racers from the Money Trail, as well as comers from other tracks, a chance to race for a special Wally Parks Trophy.

After the Money Trail race, the winners from Gold Rush Trailers Super, Ciccarone Racing Products Pro, P.C. Richard & Son Street and Ray’s Yamaha Top Bike eliminators will take part in a special runoff race. The car with the best package is the winner.

On Sunday, gates open at 8 a.m. with time trials at 9 a.m. and eliminations to follow.

In the B1 Index Series, cars will compete in a head’s up format. There are no handicaps here; both cars leave the starting line at the same time.

Cars will run in three classes: 8.50, 10.00 and 11.50 and payouts are as follows: $8.50: $75 entry free with $1,000 to the winner; $500 to the runner-up; $200 to semifinalists; and $75 to quarterfinalists.

The 11.50 index winner and runner up at the May 5 race will be part of a special 8-car showcase eliminator at the Toyota NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in New Jersey, May 30 – June 1.

The two Maple Grove entrants will be joined by two cars from the following tracks: Atco, Cecil County and Old Bridge Raceway Park.

Spectators at both Money Trail races can enter for $15; teens ages 13-15 are $10; and children 12 and under are free.

Maple Grove Raceway’s 51st season includes events at the track every weekend between April and November. The 29th annual Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals will be held Oct. 3-6.
